NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2006--Hess Corporation (NYSE:HES) and BG Group today announced the commencement of gas production from their jointly developed Atlantic and Cromarty fields in the UK sector of the North Sea.
"The Atlantic and Cromarty developments represent a significant addition to our North Sea production portfolio as well as an important new resource for the UK energy market. It also adds to Hess' record of success in advancing the boundaries of subsea production technology," said Chris Cox, Hess Vice President, Production - NW Europe.
The fields are expected to achieve a gross plateau rate of 220 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d), or approximately 120 mmcf/d net to Hess. The gas will be delivered to the UK market after processing at the SAGE terminal at St. Fergus, which is operated by a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation.
