Amerada Hess to Explore Joint Venture with North Carolina Retail Marketer

Amerada Hess Corporation announced today that it was exploring a potential 50/50
joint venture with A.T. Williams oil company which owns and operates 120 Wilco
gasoline/convenience stores and 21 Wilco travel centers. The retail outlets and
the travel centers are located primarily in North Carolina, South Carolina and
Virginia.
If a final agreement is reached, gasoline and diesel will be sold under the Hess
brand at these outlets. The convenience stores will continue to operate under
the Wilco name. Steve Williams will be chief executive officer of the joint venture
which will be named Wilcohess.
