Amerada Hess Agrees to Contract for Brazilian Offshore Supply Base

Today Amerada Hess Limitada signed the contract for a new offshore supply base with Brasco Logística Offshore Limitada. The base will support the company's offshore deepwater drilling operations in 2000, planned for the Campos and Santos basins, with the wells to be drilled within the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The base will be located on Ilha da Conceição, Niterói, and work is currently underway to upgrade the site.

Wagner Granja Victor, Secretary for Energy, Naval Construction and Petroleum for the State of Rio de Janeiro, marked the signing of this important contract by his presence at the event.

Tim Kieft, Director of Amerada Hess Limitada, said "We are delighted to sign this groundbreaking agreement with Brasco. This is an important contract for Amerada Hess and our Partners, and it marks a further step in the development of Rio State as a key player in the future of oil and gas exploration in Brazil."

This contract will provide facilities and services to support the drilling of offshore exploration wells. It includes the provision of a quayside, storage and marshalling areas, labour and supervision and vessel & cargo handling.

Santos Basin BS-2 Amerada Hess is the operator with a 32% interest
  BM-S-3 Amerada Hess is the operator with a 45% interest
Potiguar basin BCe-2 Amerada Hess has a 16% interest- (Petrobrás operator)
Sergipe-Alagoas basin BM-Seal-5 Amerada Hess is the (operator) with 85% interest
 

BM-Seal-4 Amerada Hess has a 40% interest - (Petrobras operator)
